Latest Card Makes

Hello crafter's

Today I am showcasing some of my latest card creations inspired by  Make Cards magazine which I love.

I find when making cards I tend to stick to the same design... tent fold!
Now don't get me wrong, the old tent fold cards are fabulous BUT life can get a bit mundane when we stick to the same old thing right? so this time round I've branched out a little and tried some new designs including: Pocket Cards & Dutch Fold Cards.

The pocket cards are super fun to make. They have two pocket on the front with an assortment of ephemera inside including: mini tags, sentiments & cut outs . These cards are a great way to use up scraps too, and trust me, I have large amounts of scrap paper!

The second design I tried was the "Dutch Fold"
This design is wonderful and relatively straight forward to make.
The main flap opens up reveling 2 smaller flaps that are kind of like little doors, very cute.

Rocker Cards are super easy to make and look great!
Simply trace or die cut a circle shape (mine is a 14cm diameter circle). Cut of circle, layer with patterned paper and add sentiment/s & embellishments

A few other cards I have made this week also.

Time to get back to the crafts

Happy crafting

Victorian Children

The Victorian period dates from 20th June 1837 - 22 January 1901. It was the time in which people lived during the reign of Queen Victorian.

Life could sometimes be very difficult for children back in Victorian times, those in particular, from poor families. Many of these children worked from a young age to support their families and worked for long hours!

On the other hand, children from rich families did not work, had expensive toys and were well dressed. They probably also had access to many wonderful books!

It is the illustrations from the Victorian era that I absolutely love. Vintage seed catelogs from this period would be my all time favourite and also Victorian people.

I was lucky enough to find some very gorgeous Victorian children images from the public domain which inspired my latest designs which are all available in my Etsy shop

Are you a fan of the Victorian era and the many beautiful illustrations that were created in this time period?

Bookmarks

Hi Crafter's

Are you an avid reader like me? ( I LOVE books) than making bookmarks will be right up your ally as one can NEVER have too many bookmarks right? and if you do need to give a few away they make great little gifts.

Over the last few weeks I have been working on bookmark designs and printed a few off this week to make whilst we are all in lockdown and pulling all the books out of storage!

First on the list of  ' To Make'  were the Victorian Hat Ladies Bookmarks. I love the colour's on these and also love anything Victorian.

To make these bookmarks I cut out the 4 bookmarks and then made a larger template to use for cutting out a base card for the bookmarks. I chose pale pink & cream coloured card to match the striped background of the bookmark images. I used distress ink to go around the edges of the base card and prettied the bookmarks up with lace and faux pearls.

Bookmark design is available in my Etsy store https://www.etsy.com/nz/listing/774507124/printable-hat-ladies-bookmarks-digital

Second on the craft table to be made up was the Spring Birds Bookmarks. These are absolutely gorgeous and need to be gifted to loved ones (make sure you keep one for yourself too)

To make these bookmarks I used my larger sized bookmark template (as mentioned before) to cut out four base cards using blue & teal coloured card. I then glued the bookmark images on and used distress ink around the edges of the base card ( I love distress ink!) I also used distress ink to colour in the white circle at top of bookmark as when I designed these bookmarks I never intended on using a base card with the printed design, rather, I was going to hole punch were the white circle is and add a ribbon.
Spring Bird Bookmarks available here

This next lot of bookmarks was created using my Vintage Seed Catalogs Collage
You can download this FREE from my Facebook group

The butterflies used for the top of the bookmark are available in my Etsy store

Making bookmarks is an enjoyable pastime and a great creative outlet. Even though I used the printed design I was still able to put my own spin on these bookmarks. Very satisfying indeed

Sucker For Rose's

Hi Crafter's

We are currently on lockdown here in New Zealand so I have been spending some time on new designs for my Etsy shop and card designs for craftsuprint.com as well as spending time with the kids and of course squeezing that lovely housework in somewhere....

I don't know about you, but I am a real sucker for craft supplies that feature vintage roses, (especially paper pads).
Yes, I am indeed one of those crafter's who buy beautiful vintage floral paper pads and never use them because they are too pretty! It just feels like the worst sin in the world to cut up that paper pad!

However, I do not have any difficulty fussy cutting beautiful rose images to use in my crafts and had great fun creating my latest Fussy Cut Vintage Roses images for my Etsy shop.
