Recently I felt like getting back into drawing and headed down to the library to borrow a few books to get the inspiration and ideas flowing.
I'd love to be one of those artists who could just sit down and draw ANYTHING! but the truth is i'm not that way inclined so I tend to stick to drawing simple things.
Anyway...animals turned out to be the on the cards for this little drawing session of mine.
I'm planning on designing a couple of cards with these drawing so stay tuned for future "card posts.
With winter fast approaching here in New Zealand (I think we skipped autumn this year and went straight to winter!) and the urge to be snugged up in the craft room making cards, what better design than a winter themed birthday card.
First things first, we need to learn how to make an origami coat, that's where good old Youtube comes in handy. Click on the tutorial to learn how to make an origami coat.
These little coats are so fun to make! I went a little overboard making them
Now that we have our coat the next thing we need to do is choose a colour for the base card. I have used teal coloured card cut to 10.5cm x 15cm
We also need backing paper. I have use blue corrugated card cut to 9.5cm x 14cm
To really make the little coat stand out I've glued a heart shaped paper doily onto my blue corrugated backing paper and hot glued the little coat to it.
Now that the card is almost complete we just need to add the finishing touches. Every winter coat needs a good pair of heels to accompany it and a purse. I used a stencil from the Kluts Paper Fashion book to draw the shoes and purse and cut them out by hand.
If you don't have a stencil to trace a pair of heels you may want to use the template...(you will need to reduce it in size through your printer options)
Now that we have added our finishing touches, we need to add our sentiment. To make the "Warmest Wishes" sentiment I cut a rectangle of both sparkly foam card and 'wood look' paper. I used stamping letters to spell out my sentiment.
One can't help but love the pure beauty and serenity of butterflies. They represent change, hope & life and make for great additions to any craft project!
Upon a quick clean up of the craft room I came across these butterfly coloring pages.
